The Malaysian Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) industry is mourning the loss of Rocky Tan, who died on 24 November 2018, at the age of 60.

Rocky Tan was the general manager and director of Malaysian access equipment specialist Eastway Engineering Sdn Bhd and is universally recognised as the pioneer of the Malaysian MEWP industry. He had been in the business since 1982, and had vast experience with scaffolding and powered access equipment. A spokesperson from Eastway Engineering said, ”The Malaysia MEWP industry would not be at its current growth level without his passion and vision.”

Rocky was actively involved in the activities of the International Power Access Federation (IPAF). “He was very knowledgeable about the Malaysian MEWP market. According to those who knew him well, he was always kind and supportive in guiding other MEWP players, sharing his knowledge and experience.”
