Presiding over the 2006 ESTA Awards of Excellence event, which was held during the Intermat exhibition, was Christian- Jacques Vernazza, ESTA president, who presented the awards to the 12 winners in four categories.

Awards were presented to member companies for projects completed in the last 12 months and considered by judges as being especially worthy of merit according to a range of criteria that make the job unique or more innovative than others.

The awards were divided into transport-related or lifting-related projects and each subdivided into two categories according to size and weight. First, second and third place awards were given in each category.

In addition to the Job Awards, was the ESTA Personality Award, which was presented to Marceau Cochez in recognition of his contribution to the crane industry in general, to the French national crane association SNUG and to ESTA.
