Colorado Materials, in Texas, is one of the largest privately held quarries in the country and provides millions of tons of materials annually to various locations. As well as the main quarry, Colorado maintains several locations across the state, providing quality crushed limestone and hot mix asphalt to clients.

When needing to source a mobile jaw crusher to boost production capacity, Colorado already had experience of Sandvik equipment in a stationary application.

It decided to invest in the largest tracked jaw crusher in the Sandvik mobile crushing and screening range, the UJ640E.

The machine, which features a 1,500 x 1,100 mm (60 x 44 in) single toggle jaw capable of achieving up to 1,100 t/hr, is electrically powered and comes with an onboard diesel generator and electric plug-in grid supply, so customers can choose the most efficient means to operate.

According to Sandvik, this has environmental benefits in reducing both its fuel consumption and carbon footprint, while providing cleaner working conditions on site through less operating noise and emissions.

The unit is also fitted with a dust suppression system as standard to minimise dust emissions and rubber lined impact zones for reduced operating noise.
