Hitachi UK rolls out CESAR

From now on, Hitachi Construction Machinery (UK) will fit every new mini, medium and large excavator, wheeled loader and wheeled excavator with the CESAR Security System as standard.

The CESAR Security System, which is powered by Datatag technologies and supported by the Construction Equipment Association (CEA), works in conjunction with the CESAR Network.

The network maintains a database of around 230,000 construction agricultural machines and provides a telephone helpline to support equipment owners and liaises with UK police forces.

David Roberts, CEO of Hitachi CM (UK) said, “CESAR is not only a proven theft deterrent, it also provides an accurate and efficient proof of identity to the Police when they need to trace stolen machines, which has been an industry-wide issue for years.”

Andy Huddleston, Superintendent of Northumbria Police said, “As the national Police lead for Agricultural Machinery theft I am delighted that Hitachi CM (UK), one of the industry’s leading companies, has chosen to security mark all their new machines sold in the UK.

“We know that by doing this the chance of recovering these high-value machines is higher and makes life harder for criminals. We hope that all manufacturers will adopt this approach.”

In addition to rolling out CESAR across its new machines, the manufacturer will also offer the security system as an aftermarket retrofit kit.

Stephen Creaser, director of product support at Hitachi CM (UK) said the company wanted “to offer the same peace of mind to its existing customers”.

Hitachi CM (UK) is also adopting the CESAR Emissions Compliance Verification (ECV), which allows the emissions category of a machine to readily identified. It integrates an alpha/numeric and colour code system that is secured to a machine’s unique CESAR identity.
