The rental company, which operates a fleet of approximately 8,500 machines from over 200 sites across the UK and Ireland, said Briggs would be responsible for overseeing the business’s growth and for improving its product and equipment offering. He will also take up a position on the company’s board.

Russell Down, Speedy Hire’s CEO, said, “Andy will play an instrumental role in enhancing the range of products and services we offer, to provide our clients with the most comprehensive, one-stop solution for powered access equipment.”

Briggs began his career at Nationwide Platforms in 2001 and, over the course of almost 20 years, rose through the company’s ranks to hold both senior and executive-level positions.

He joined Speedy Hire as its Operations Manager less than a year ago.

Down said, “Andy has been instrumental in the development of our specialist powered access business and brings vast market experience, which will enable us to build on the success we’ve achieved.”

Over the past two years, Speedy Hire has invested £52 million in its UK operations and acquired powered access businesses Prolift, Platform Sales and Lifterz.
