Netherlands-based Caterpillar dealer Pon Equipment acquired Rental Force, also in The Netherlands, on 1 January 2008. Under the terms of the sale Rental Force, based in Cruquius, will not operate as a Cat Rental Store.

"For the last five years, Rental Force has been a multi-brand company, and it will remain the same for the next five years," Cheil Brandenburg, managing director, told IRN. "You cannot survive in Holland as a rental company with only one brand," he said.

Mr Brandenburg said Rental Force was the largest renter of large construction equipment machines in the country, having a fleet size of approximately 200 units above 15 t. He said the company bought around 50 machines in mid-February, primarily small and mid-sized excavators and loaders from Komatsu, Hitachi and Caterpillar.
