Aerials on site at London Olympics Aquatics Centre

The London Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has released stunning recent photos showing aerial platforms and cranes working on the Olympic Aquatics Centre, one of the largest structures on the site.

The photos shows engineers using Genie and JLG articulated booms to prepare for a 28000 t lift of part of the roof structure for the Zaha Hadid designed building. The Aquatic Centre is in the south part of the Olympic site, where the Hire Alliance rental consortium is working. Alliance members comprise A-Plant, HSS Hire, Screwfix, Aggreko, DHL, Greenshields JCB, Hilti and JLG.

The ODA does not permit companies to advertise their presence on the site, so it is difficult to be clear about who owns the aerial platforms in the pictures, although it is within the portion of the site where A-Plant is operating.

The lift is considered one of the most complex engineering and construction challenges of the Olympic Park ‘big build'. For more details, including video footage, click here.

The ODA has appointed two rental consortia to provide equipment on the £5.5 billion construction project. In addition to the Hire Alliance working on the south portion of the site, a second consortium called Construction Site Solutions - comprising Speedy Hire, Lavendon, BSS Group and Hewden - is operating on the North of the site.
