Bouygues wins Paris arena project

The contract to build a new 8,000-seater sports stadium in Paris has been awarded to two subsidiaries of Bouygues Construction.
A consortium of Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France and Bouygues Energies & Services secured the contract, which is valued at approximately €110 million, to build and operate the 26,000m2 Arena Porte de la Chapelle project.
In addition to the main sports hall, which will host national and international sports competitions, the consortium will build two gymnasiums, plus structures for a range of leisure activities and retail outlets.
Construction work is set to begin this summer, with completion expected by July 2023.
In a press release, Bouygues said the stadium will make maximum use of recycled, bio-sourced and carbon-free materials.
The architects involved in the design – SCAU and NP2F – worked with Franck Boutt Consultants on the environmental aspects of the structure, as well as energy-related aspects of the stadium.
Under the terms of the contract, Bouygues Energies & Services FM France will provide service and maintenance of the stadium for a period of 10 years. The company will work with Dalkia for the management of the stadium’s energy mix.
