CPA hires technical consultant

The Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) has hired Ian Simpson to provide technical consultancy services to the association and its special interest groups.

Technical consultant Ian Simpson will now support the CPA and its special interest groups

The technical capability of the Crane Interest Group, the Tower Crane Interest Group and the Construction Hoist Interest Group, will now benefit from Simpson’s support through his company Langside Consulting.

A Chartered Mechanical Engineer, Simpson previously worked for the Health and Safety Executive – the UK government agency for the regulation and enforcement of workplace health and safety – as a principal specialist inspector.

The CPA said that during Simpson’s 40 years of experience he served on numerous British Standards Institute (BSI) committees, including the MHE3/11 Crane Safety Committee, which was responsible for the BS7121 Crane Safety standards.

Kevin Minton, CPA chief executive said, “Ian has a wealth of knowledge and experience, and we welcome him as a strong addition to our team.”
