The new KPS35 chain hoist testing set for overload cutoff “offers a precise, robust and dependable tester for slip couplings on chain hoists,” manufacturer tecsis said. The measurement range covers chain hoists between 4 and 3,500 kg capacity. Features include a dependable reading, low weight and easy handling.

The KPS35 consists of a force transducer with integrated handle and a display unit. Included are two chain adapters and three centring sleeves to ensure the unit can be used with all types of chain hoist in the specified load range.

To perform the test, the force transducer is inserted into the chain where it then travels upwards with it against the base of the chain hoist and thereby blocks the chain. The display unit allows the force at which the friction clutch operates to be read off.

The battery-driven display unit processes the signal returned by the force transducer via a cable. The large illuminated graphical display makes it easy for the user to read off the measured values. Up to 99 data sets can be stored and transferred via an infrared interface to a personal computer. One special feature is the single sensor concept for the entire load range, tecsis said.
