UK-based construction equipment auction company Euro Auctions has opened a permanent auction site in Valencia, Spain, and will hold its first auction there on 10 December.

Euro Auctions said the new site has been selected to allow it to better support its customers in southern Europe, and to act as a distribution hub for the better performing markets of northern Africa and the Middle East.

The new site covers an area of 3.2 hectares and is located in the Riba-roja de Turia district of Valencia, offering easy access to the main dock areas for loading and shipping. The Valencia site will be run and managed by Euro Auctions' new territory manager in Spain, Paolo Alecci.

The 10 December auction will have 800 lots, including excavators, dumpers, loaders, telehandlers and a large consignment of surplus stock from "a leading European rental company".

Jonnie Keys, general manager of Euro Auctions said the company had always aspired to open an auction site in Spain; "Now with the arrival of the Valencia site we are strategically positioned to support the currently buoyant markets of North Africa, south Eastern Europe and the Middle East which seem to be ignoring the current global economic trends".

The new Spanish site will create seven new jobs at Euro Auctions, including three in the head office at Dromore and four in Valencia.
