An SDLG LG958L wheeled loader has proven itself with a Florida, USA, based recycler. North Fort Myers based Whitehead and Johns operates three separate sites, with each using a single wheeled loader to help with material handling duties on its sites. The facilities handle dirt, brick, concrete asphalt, construction waste, field topsoil and other salvaged materials.

The SDLG machine was sourced to replace another machine that had blown its transmission, with repairs requiring several months to carry out, and SDLG dealer Flagier Construction Equipment was able to supply the machine at short notice. The company’s machines operate five days a week, averaging 30 duty hours per week, loading materials into one of the facility’s crushers and screens.

The LG958L features a 3 cubic metre (106 cubic foot) capacity bucket and is powered by a Tier 3 Deutz engine developing 167 kW (224 hp). It has an operating weight of 17,387 kg (38,250 lb), a hydraulic quick coupler and third function hydraulics as standard. Wet disc brakes are available on the machine, but Whitehead and Johns chose dry disc brakes for their easy cleaning and maintenance.
