Genie's Runabout for multi-storey applications

Genie Industries unveiled two new boom lifts at APEX, plus the new GRC-12 Runabout vertical mast lift

The S-60 TRAX self-propelled telescopic boom has a working height up to 20.34 m, horizontal reach of 15.48 m and lift capacity of 227 kg. The unit runs on a QTS-R42 track system, features a self-levelling platform, fully proportional hall effect joystick controls, 360 degree continuous rotation and a swing-out engine tray for easy access.

Major overhauls on the S-80 and S-85 telescopic booms by Genie also were a major focus. The changes include virtual pivot boom assembly, improved software and fixed width axles which give the units a 2.4 m total width, slimming down both machines' footprints.

The GRC-12 Runabout is suitable for finished and semi-finished multi-storey applications, it features a working height up to 5.66 m and a platform height up to 3.66 m. Frank Schneider, Genie's product manager for portable products, touted the machine's compact footprint, lift capacity up to 277 kg and overall weight of 948 kg, as well as a few new additions.

With a base of 0.75 m x 1.39 m, Schneider said the compact size and zero turning radius make the GRC-12 ideal for applications where a larger scissor lift can't access the job. Most importantly, he says, is the steel platform and extension gate, as well as the steel tube-in-tube mast system. "The steel mast gives no access for debris to get in," Schneider said. "A wooden screw can't get in and kill the machine."

The GRC-12's steel basket and extension deck is more rugged than before, Schneider said, and with the swing out basket, allows for such a compact machine to have two people working at once. .
