Western Global's Abbi Blue can transport both fuel and AdBlue diesel exhaust fluid in a single bowser.

Western Global has introduced a new bowser, the Abbi Blue, which can transport both diesel and AdBlue in a single unit. The bowser was highly commended in the Plantworx exhibition Innovation Awards.

According to Western Global area sales manager, Matthew Botterill, the bowser was launched in response to customer demands for a unit which can transport both diesel and AdBlue diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) as new Stage IV-compliant construction equipment has come onto the market. One solution for meeting the stringent new Stage IV exhaust emissions regulations is a system called selective catalytic reduction (SCR), which requires AdBlue or a similar DEF to remove nitrous oxides (NOx) from exhaust gasses.

The Abbi Blue is available in two sizes. Both have a 160 litre AdBlue capacity, but the diesel tank can be either 1,000 litres or 1,500 litres.

Mr Botterill said, “The Abbi Blue costs about 20% more than a fuel bowser, and it is definitely more cost-effective than having a separate AdBlue bowser.”

The diesel and AdBlue compartments are separated to avoid cross-contamination of the liquids, and there are internal baffles for safe transportation. The pumping equipment and filler caps are enclosed within a lockable hatch within the main steel body, and there are also fork pockets built into the non-wheeled version.
