Record Enerpac crane to Poland

Components of the world’s largest offshore overhead travelling crane have been transported from manufacturer Enerpac’s site in Hengelo, Netherlands, to the Crist shipyard in Poland. There they will be reassembled and the 4,800 tonne capacity crane and its runway gantry will be mounted on an eight-leg heavy duty jack up barge.

Early in 2016 the vessel will travel to site in the Indian Ocean where final load testing will be done. The crane will be used to construct a 5,400 m offshore highway on Reunion Island. It is being built by French consortium Bouygues Travaux Publics, VINCI Construction Grands Projets, Dodin Campenon Bernard and Demathieu Bard Construction.

Each of the crane’s four bridge beams weighed 72 tonnes. At 29 metres long by 1.2 wide and 3 m tall, they were the largest pieces to be transported. It took a week to dismantle the crane from its test site.
