Sandvik Mining & Construction used the bauma China trade fair in Shanghai to introduce its new DI 550 5 inch (127 mm) drill rig.

Key to the machine is simple and comfortable operation, designed in from the start.

Power comes from a 328 kW diesel engine and a 24.4 m3 compressor air flow at 24 bar pressure. The new cab design is over-pressured and fitted with ROPS and FOPS protection.

The large windshield comes with a safety bar that is easy to open for cleaning.

A new efficient dust collector features non-stop cleaning that decreases the amount of dust emissions. This also improves filter life and reduces maintenance requirements.

According to the company, the DI550 will be available by the end of 2010. At the same time a new feed and rotary head will also be introduced.
