The new Ram 1770 telescopic container spreader is designed to maximise lifting capacity. Mobile harbour cranes fitted with the spreader can handle 20 and 40 ft containers on single lift to a maximum capacity of 35 tonnes.

It uses a single beam design to be strong and light, and to minimise inertia when rotating unladen. There are six hydraulic flippers for fast and accurate container location.

Earlier this year the first unit was commissioned, on a Gottwald 280 MHC, in the north of England.
