Tobroco-Giant is to introduce a new electric powered vibratory plate, having become the first company in Europe to get permission from Honda Engines to use its GXE2.0H electric engine.

Designed for heavy duty applications, the GIANT GP1950E (‘E’ for electric) vibratory plate model has now entered mass production “after an intensive period of development and testing”.

Toboro-Giant, which earlier this yeary acquired SAMAC brand owner ULBO Machinery, said, “The electrically powered GIANT GP1950E is equipped with a motor power of 1.6kW and is specially designed for heavy work. The vibratory plate weighs 103kg and delivers an impact force of 19.1 kN.

“Depending on the surface this can result into a speed of 32m/min which makes the performance equivalent to the diesel and petrol variant (GP1950B).”

Described as the first in a completely new electric rammer and vibratory plate product line, the GP1950E’s Honda engine combines a lithium-ion battery and an electric motor, that together deliver less noise and zero emissions.

This means the vibratory plate can be used inside and outside, and on applications such as trenches and tunnels.

According to Honda, when the battery’s power is depleted users can swap it with a another fully charged one and continue working, while the depleted battery is being recharged. It can be recharged up to around 80% within an hour using a 230V quick charger.
