UK lifting equipment rental firm FLG Services - owned by A-Plant - has appointed Tony Longmire as its new technical director.

In his new role, Mr Longmire will be responsible for developing and extending the Service Centre network, training and developing personnel, liaising with suppliers and identifying new product ranges, enhancing management systems and processes, developing apprentices and leading the drive for technical excellence.

He joins FLG Services from Balfour Beatty, where he was senior authorising engineer – lifting, with responsibility for setting policy and standards in relation to lifting operations. Previously, he has held director roles with Speedy Hire and Lifting Gear Hire.

Mr Longmire has also sat on the executive board and technical committee of the LEEA (Lifting Equipment Engineers Association).

FLG Services specialises in the sales or rental of lifting equipment. The company was acquired by A-Plant, one of the UK’s largest equipment rental companies, earlier this year.
