US-based Acme Lift Co. has taken delivery of one of the first Genie SX-180 boom lifts to come off the assembly line. The machined, which is reportedly the world’s tallest self-propelled telescopic aerial boom lift, was immediately rented out.

“As aerial lifts continue to evolve, jobsite working height and work envelope requirements continue to increase,” said Woody Weld, chairman and chief executive officer of Acme Lift. “Up to now, no solution existed for the over 150 ft (45.7 m) reach requirement for self-propelled aerial man lifts. Unfortunately, that high work could only be performed by cranes with attached or suspended man baskets in the past.”

An oil refinery in Houston, Texas rented the Genie SX-180 boom lift, which reaches up to 180 ft (55 m).

The Genie SX-180 boom lift is designed for easy transportation and is ideally suited for applications in the oil and natural gas industries, as well as commercial construction, industrial construction and maintenance, and general maintenance.

The Genie SX-180 boom lift offers a 180 ft (55 m) vertical reach and an 80 ft (24.3 m) horizontal reach, offers an 8 ft by 3 ft (2.4 m by 1 m) work platform with a capacity of 750 lb (340 kg). The 10 ft (3 m) jib rotates 60 degrees horizontally and 135 degrees vertically to position workers and gear exactly where they are needed.
