UK-based access rental company specialist AFI has expanded its in-house transport fleet with five Sterling Beavertail Trucks, adding to existing fleet.

The first vehicles to go on the road, two MAN and two DAF 26 tonne trucks, feature AFI’s new style of vinyl wrap livery. The fifth truck, a 32 tonne MAN, will arrive early this year which increases AFI’s total delivery fleet to 54 trucks.

All of the new trucks conform to the latest European standards on emissions and are fitted with sophisticated telemetry systems to enable AFI to monitor vehicle and driver performance. This helps to improve driving styles, which in turn will bring safety, fuel efficiency and emission reduction benefits.

Another important feature is Sterling Cheesewedge fold forward ramps that create far less drag than other types of ramp, giving up to 12% fuel saving to AFI. The truck bodies also have a number of integrated safety features, such as fall protection and side walkways.

AFI director Nick Higgins said, “We have invested heavily in providing our own in-house transport fleet so that we can take full responsibility and control of every aspect of the delivery process. We have further increased the efficiency of the fleet by strategically locating the vehicles throughout our UK depot network to ensure that MEWPs are delivered to customers quickly and also collected promptly.”

“We have had a strong relationship with Sterling for many years now and the benefits of Fuel Saving and increased Truck Payloads has been a result of this partnership developing over time,” he concluded.
