Fraco's German dealer AST Gmbh, based near Ulm, used two FRSM 1500 platforms to install cellular phone antennas on the tower of a wind turbine at Suppingen in the southwest of Germany. The two platforms were linked on either side by bridging unit giving total access around the turbine tower up to a height of 45 m. The platform was raised 9 m at a time with six 1.53 m tower lengths, and anchors were placed at 5 m intervals. The entire installation took one and a half days, and it was dismantled in one day. AST says the solution was faster and more flexible than conventional scaffolding, while the use of a hydraulic aerial platform was prevented because of ground load limitations.
