Atlas Copco Portable Energy has appointed Eric van Meel as its new regional marketing manager for North and South America.

He succeeds Ben van Hove, who became vice president marketing for generators and light towers for Atlas Copco Portable Energy in September.

Mr van Meel takes up his new post on 1 January, 2013 and will be based at Atlas Copco’s Rock Hill facility in South Carolina, US.

He has a long history at Atlas Copco, joining as a quality control inspector at the Airpower division in Belgium in 1986 and becoming a service engineer for the Portable Air Division a few years later.

Mr van Meel became product manager, generators, for Chile in 1997 before becoming business line manager for the Portable Air Division in Chile in 2000 and then business line manager for aftermarket operations in Canada in 2003. Since 2008 he has been a general manager for Atlas Copco Argentina.

Portable Energy is the division within Atlas Copco’s Construction Technique business area that makes portable compressors, high pressure boosters and generators, as well as lighting towers and pumps.
