Bechtel wins $4.3bn deal to build Texas LNG export facility

US-based contractor Bechtel has won a $4.3 billion engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to build a fourth natural gas liquefaction train at a facility in Texas.
The company has secured the deal with US liquefied natural gas (LNG) company NextDecade to build Train 4 and related infrastructure at NextDecade’s Rio Grande site.

NextDecade estimates that the total cost of the project will be $6-6.2 billion, in line with the per-train cost of the three-train Phase 1 at the Rio Grande LNG facility, which is currently under construction.
The LNG company said that the 27 million tons per annum (MTPA) LNG export facility in South Texas will become one of the largest in the world and will also feature one of the largest carbon capture and storage projects in North America.
