Bilfinger rejects HQ move

Bilfinger will not now be moving its group headquarters to a new building in the Glückstein Quarter of Mannheim, Germany.

The engineering and industrial services company, which is based in Mannheim and has links with the city stretching back to 1883, had planned to move to the new district.

Herbert Bodner, chairman of the executive board at Bilfinger, said, “The ongoing restructuring programmes have had an impact on many of the group's employees. In a situation like this, a new headquarters building would send the wrong signal.

“There are no plans to move group headquarters out of Mannheim to another location.”

Bilfinger, together with the city of Mannheim, will look into options of how the property in the Glückstein Quarter can be used in the future.
