Bomag Americas has broken ground on a new North American headquarters facility in Ridgeway, South Carolina. The US$ 18.2 million, 127,600 ft2 (11,850 m2) facility will provide office space as well as 107,100 ft2 (9,950 m2) for spare parts warehousing and machine assembly.

Commenting on the location for the facility, Walter Link, president of Bomag Americas said, “We believe this area offers our company several strategic benefits, such as close to port of entry, proximity to an air hub for spare parts fulfilment and a climate conducive to offering year-round sales and service training for our customers.”

Vice president of sales Rob Mueckler added, “The primary objective of this new facility is to strengthen the services of our North American organisation with the purpose of being closer to and better serving our customers.”

The company hopes to begin full-scale construction work on the facility in March, with completion expected in October. This will see it move from its current location in Kewanee, Illinois. It added that the new assembly space would allow it to customize compaction and road building equipment with features designed specifically for the North American market.
