Another speaker has been confirmed for the conference component of the 2015 World Demolition Summit. Dennis McGarel from Brandenburg Industrial Service Company, one of the world’s ‘Top Five’ demolition contracting companies, will be present in Amsterdam to outline the work it undertook during the removal of the Prentice Woman’s Hospital and Maternity Center in downtown Chicago, USA.

Designed by architect Bertrand Goldberg, the building consisted of a cantilevered nine storey four cylindrical tower structure sitting on top of a rectangular five storey lower and created a unique challenge for Brandenburg. Added to this, the demolition of the building was delayed for more than a year as a result of court action instigated by preservationists determined to save the structure. Dennis will outline the challenges faced by Brandenburg during this high profile project and the means that the company used to overcome them.

Brandenburg joins a confirmed programme that features speakers from leading contractors around the world, covering projects as diverse as crane dismantling through to explosive demolition of high rise structures. The final completed programme is certain to provide serious food for thought for all demolition professionals.

With the 2015 Awards component of the Summit also seeing strong interest from potential entrants, the event is one not to miss, so save the date in your diary.
