The new president of Brazilian rental association ALEC is Marco Aurélio da Cunha, managing director of São Paulo Locadora de Máquinas e Equipamentos Ltda, a general equipment rental company with depots in São Paulo, Curitiba and Praia Grande.

Mr Aurélio da Cunha, who has been active in Brazil's rental market for 23 years, succeeds Durval Gasparetti, who has completed his two year tenure as president.

In a statement to ALEC members, the new president thanked them for their vote of confidence and said he was committed to furthering the work of the association; "I've been following the development of ALEC since its inception. We are still in the association's sunrise period and it is with great pleasure that I see the level we have already reached.

"There is still much work ahead and my commitment during these two years is to help ALEC grow even more, with the strengthening of our membership."

He said it was essential to build on the work of previous board members; "ALEC's representation in the market has been increasing year by year and it is essential that this development continues, consolidating the concept of rental."
