Bromma's biggest
06 May 2008
Swedish spreader manufacturer Bromma has won its largest order ever. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has ordered 59 Bromma Marathon twin-lift spreaders for its cranes going to Pusan Newport Company at the Port of Pusan, Korea. An order for two Bromma HSM6 Overheights, and 2 EH9 rotators is also included in the contract.
A few months earlier Bromma received an order, again for Pusan Newport Company, for 24 STS45 separating twin-lift ship-to-shore spreaders that are being fitted onto ZPMC ship-to-shore cranes also headed to the Port of Pusan. That contract also included an order for four HSM6 Overheights.
A total of 89 Bromma spreaders have been ordered for the Pusan Newport Company container handling operation in the last few months. With this latest order, more than 500 Bromma telescopic spreaders have been ordered, either for use in Korea or by Korean OEMs and shipping lines.
All 59 units in the latest order have been specified with Bromma SCS2 spreader condition monitoring and diagnostics technology, which offers more than 400 spreader-related diagnostic messages. Access to the information is via the crane's display, over the field bus to the PLC, or via wireless technology. Fleet management is simplified by the fact that Bromma spreaders can be swapped from one crane to another, on a “plug and play” principle.
The Pusan Newport Company project will have the capacity to handle 3.5 million TEU (Twenty foot equivalent units). The Port of Pusan is the fifth largest container terminal in the world, handling some 10.5 million TEU annually.
