The Heavy Lift Group has welcomed its first member from Africa.

Cape Town-based Concargo is now part of THLG, a group of specialist heavy transport companies that combine their experience and capabilities to offer a service for transporting abnormal loads worldwide.

“Concargo will facilitate all heavy lift transport and overland, outsize cargo movements, mobile crane operations, rigging, machinery installation, and large scale project forwarding into Africa on behalf of THLG members,” according to Cape Business News.

In a recent project through the THLG, Concargo loaded and transported three Sikorsky S61 helicopters being exported through Cape Town and Durban ports to Canada.

The Heavy Lift Group was started in 1987 by European heavy lift operators. Since then it has expanded into a worldwide group with members in the Americas, CIS, Middle East and Asia. THLG members specialize in heavy lift transport by sea, air and overland, outsize cargo movements, crane operations, rigging, machinery installation, and large-scale project forwarding.
