Crane Service Inc lifts the new GL-class Mercedes-Benz into position

Albuquerque, USA-based Crane Service was charged with introducing the new GL-class Mercedes-Benz sports utility vehicle (SUV) to the world press earlier this month. It was brought in to place one of the high-end vehicles in the courtyard of the Four Seasons Rancho Encantado Resort in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Two main challenges presented themselves with the lift – ensuring no damage to the vehicle, and working in a confined space.

The firm’s rigging expertise ensured that the vehicle was lifted and placed without so much as a scratch. The lack of space, however, meant working at a high radius to clear the building. The firm opted for its Terex AC 100/4L all terrain crane to manage the lift. The crane’s long boom was fully extended to 59.4 metres to place the 2.4 tonne SUV at a radius of 36 m into the resort’s courtyard.
