Delta adds to global flavour of online WDS

Not even a nine-hour time difference can prevent Australian contractor Delta Group from being part of the World Demolition Summit (WDS), which takes place online next Thursday, 12 November, at 3pm UK time.

Delta and Alford Technologies combined for the Hazelwood project

Delta, combined with United Kingdom-based explosives specialist Alford Technologies, took down the iconic Hazelwood Power Station chimneys just a few months ago – and two of the men behind the successful project will describe how it happened at next week’s event.

The actual presentation has been pre-recorded, but Delta project manager Bartek Kogutowski and Alford’s managing director Roland Alford will be live to answer audience questions about the project, which apart from being a challenge in its own right also required some creative thinking when Covid-19 struck at the business end of planning for the demolition process.

There were also be contributions from the client, Australian utility company Engie.

Hazelwood is just one presentation in a slimmed down but still powerful line up that also includes speakers Angus Holdsworth (Andun Consultants, UK); Andrea Gazzola (business development manager of Italian heavy lifting specialist Fagioli) and James Milburn, managing principal of US contractor Milburn Demolition.

In between the presentations viewers will be able to discover the winners of this year’s World Demolition Awards, comprising 14 categories across the spectrum of demolition and recycling.

The WDS is organised by Demolition & Recycling International in cooperation with the European Demolition Association and the National Demolition Association of the USA.

Headline sponsor is Volvo Construction Equipment.
