EIB funds Warsaw infrastructure programme

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved funding for PLN 1 billion (€240 million) under a long-term loan agreement to finance municipal infrastructure projects in Warsaw, Poland.

The loan will help support mobility schemes, education, social and healthcare infrastructure projects and the modernisation of public and green spaces as part of Warsaw’s 2014 to 2019 investment programme.

Developments will include health centres, schools, and social service centres as well as new cycle routes and green spaces. The Vistula River bank area will also be developed, integrating it with the historic centre and introducing flood protection measures.

Transport schemes will include the construction of an inner ring road for the city, as well as the renovation of streets and modernisation of street infrastructure.
