Lockerbie, Scotland-headquartered transportation company Finnie Heavy Haulage has extended its haulage capabilities with the purchase of a ‘lightweight flat trailer’ made by Netherlands-headquartered trailer manufacturer Broshuis.

The trailer was ordered in full specification and, according to Broshuis, is the first of this trailer type to be delivered.

Broshuis said it used 3D-CAD models and FEM-analysis when developing the trailer to identify areas in which it could save weight without compromising the its strength or quality.

The single extendable hydraulically steered platform trailer has a low tare weight of 8.4 tonnes, enabling more load to be carried without requiring a permit (in countries where the maximum combination weight is 40 tonnes).

The light weight of the trailer also helps users save fuel, said Broshuis. The trailer has three nine-tonne axles with single mounting tyres, air suspension and TÜV certified components and parts. The load floor height is 1,370 mm and net load capacity is 36. 6 tonnes.
