German crane rental company Franz Bracht has added a second Grove GSK55 truck mounted crane to its fleet.
Dirk Bracht, managing director of Franz Bracht KG, said, “This is the only 55 tonne capacity crane that can be transported using any normal truck so it doesn’t incur extra costs for special road permits.
“The total weight of the truck and trailer is only 40 tonnes so it can be driven like any normal truck on all roads in Germany and many other European countries. It also enables us to travel longer distances using the shortest route possible, saving time and fuel.”
The GSK55 has a 43 metre telescopic boom with an optional 8.7 to 15 m swingaway jib, increasing the maximum available tip height to 60 m.
One of the first jobs for the new crane was working on a residential construction project, which involved lifting a 3 tonne mini excavator over a row of houses at a 22 m radius. Other projects included the installation of 1.2 tonne drum at a wastewater treatment plant, which was 30 km away from the residential construction site. Both jobs were completed on the same day.
