Gdynia Port Technical Company, Poland, has handled a large order of automated stacking cranes for Konecranes, Finland.
The twenty loading cranes, which measure 25 metres high and 32 m wide, were for customer GCT Global Container Terminals, based in New Jersey, USA.
For the transport, the cranes were loaded onto a ship using 16 axle lines of Scheuerle self propelled modular transporter (SPMT).
Challenges during the transportation from the assembly point to the loading area included a high centre of gravity of the load, which was approximately 13 m above the bottom edge of the load, a company spokesperson said.
To help with the loading operation the length of the cranes was reduced to 15 m.
