Gordon Sparrow 1933 - 2016

The last of the three founders of UK crane rental company Sparrows crane hire (GW Sparrow & Sons) died on 1 June aged 82. Gordon Sparrow, with elder brothers Alf and George, set up the company in 1949 based at their father’s petrol station in Bath, in the south west of England. By the 1960s Sparrows was the largest crane rental company in the UK and one of the largest worldwide.

Alf died in 2012 aged 90 and George in 2013 aged 89.
