Topcon says its new RL-VH4G interior laser (see right) is the most visible laser in the industry, using the company's GreenBeam technology first introduced in 1997.

Topcon claims it performs better than red beam lasers. “Topcon's GreenBeam technology quadruples beam brightness,” says Frank Grunder, Topcon sales manager in Europe. “You never lose the beam, even in direct sunlight, and you won't ever again waste time hunting for a laser beam on your target.”

The laser can be used to provide horizontal, vertical, plumb and 90 degree alignment, and features include “extended battery operation”, an optional radio remote control, and a removable laser guard.

The unit has an optional wall mount to suspend a ceiling grid across an entire office space, and it can be used to set a level reference for hanging wall cabinets or installing countertops.

The standard RL-VH4G includes a hard carrying case, two magnetic ceiling/scan targets and rechargeable batteries.

Also new from Topcon is the GPT-9000Ai total station (above), an addition to the company's ‘robotic’ total station series. The 9000Ai offers “the added productivity and versatility of integrated digital imaging”, a technology that Topcon first used in 2005 with its GPT-7000i total station.

“Its integrated, dual digital camera imaging technology captures reality with wide angle and telescopic view capabilities,” says Ian Stilgoe, product manager at Topcon Europe Positioning, “and when used in conjunction with the built-in scanning feature, it provides a dynamic system that provides the automation of a much-higher priced laser scanner for targeted applications. With the digital imaging software you can combine multiple job site photos and create 3D models and point clouds.”

The GPT-9000Ai can take reflectorless measurement up to 2000 m and Topcon says it can “easily measure on difficult targets like power lines.”
