Elliott Equipment Company is installing the Greer Insight electronic monitoring system on selected BoomTrucks

Elliott Equipment has begun fitting some of its boom trucks with the new full-colour Greer Insight Load Moment Indicator (LMI) system. The US manufacturer is installing the new electronic monitoring system on the boom truck range of models from 10 to 50 US tons (9 to 45 tonnes) capacity.

The Greer Insight LMI offers multiple screens, multiple language options and metric conversions. Crane operators can view an image of the crane on a screen that shows rated capacity, actual load weight on the line, radius of the load, boom angle, boom length and working area. The LMI, which was developed specifically for boom trucks, will also retain all programmed settings after shutdown.

Elliott said it plans to invest in technology improvements throughout 2012 with the aim of increasing equipment safety and performance on the job site.
