Leading mobile crushing and screening equipment supplier Powerscreen is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Formed in 1966 as Ulster Plant, the Northern Ireland-based company pioneered the concept of mobile screening, taking the machines to the quarry face rather than other way round.

Three years later, it made its first export, to Sweden, of a machine costing £2,500 (US$3,400). Now it employs 600 people in more than 80 countries and has a product range of over 30 machines including the Chieftain and Warrior ranges of mobile screens.

“Powerscreen is the story of teamwork,” said product line director Colin Clements.

“Our customers have trusted us and helped to build and define the industry, as well as creating ways for people to work safely. It is through teamwork that we will continue to find new solutions and opportunities.”
