HIGH POWER TN DIESEL ENGINE SERIES FROM YANMAR

01 May 2020

“Original equipment manufacturers are constantly striving to develop machines that are cleaner, more reliable and deliver higher productivity. This is possible because continuous advancements in engine technology deliver greater power density than previous generations,” says Carlo Giudici, the Sales Director at Yanmar Europe in The Netherlands. He continues “These demands are integral to the design of our latest engine line, the TN Series. Ranging from 55 to 155 kilowatts (kW), they have super high power density due to a high-rigidity design. The 4TN107 features a two stage turbocharger that gives it a class-leading power density of 34kW/L.

The 4TN101 achieves fuel consumption reductions of approximately 10% compared to a similar-sized engine with the same output, resulting in longer operation times and this contributes to significant financial savings throughout the life-cycle of the machine.”

Thanks to Yanmar’s advanced combustion technology and two-stage turbocharger the 4TN107 can achieve a maximum torque of 805Nm. The compact profile of the engine takes into account the needs of vehicle manufacturers improving the installation characteristics. Yanmar’s proprietary exhaust-gas reduction technology results in a more compact exhaust-gas after-treatment system markedly improving the outward visibility and the comfort level for machine operators.

The 4TN101 and 4TN107 industrial engines, with a 3.8-litre and 4.6-litre capacity respectively, were introduced at Intermat 2018 with the serial production of the 4TN101 engine, producing 55 to 105kW, planned for 2021. For the two-stage turbocharged 4TN107 (90 to 155kW) unit, production began at the end of 2019.

The speed at which Yanmar develops and launches new products shows Yanmar’s focus, with an emphasis on quality design and engineering ability across various industry sectors. This mission is further enhanced by the fact that the Yanmar engine business became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yanmar Holdings Co., Ltd., trading under the name of Yanmar Power Technology Co., Ltd from 1st April 2020. Yanmar Power Technology aims to create a global standard in the field of power sources for both industrial and commercial marine engines, with technical solutions that maximise life cycle value and minimise environmental impact to achieve business growth worldwide. This also includes growth in alternative industrial powertrains.
