A Liebherr LR 1280 lattice boom crawler crane owned by Almazy Anabara has been operating in a wide range of temperatures in Russia.

The crane has been working in Jurjung-Chaja in the north of the autonomous Russian Republic of Yakutia since 2012 in temperatures ranging from 30 down to -60 degrees Celsius. To cope with the extreme cold during winter months, the crane has the Liebherr arctic package.

In the summer the crane is used to load and unload ships on the river Anabar. During the winter, however, the river freezes over and the cargo is transported on trucks.

The crane is fitted with the Litronic system for increased control and monitoring. This helps ensure high safety even at extreme temperatures, a company spokesperson said.
