Davies Crane Hire of Carmarthen in Wales has purchased the first Hitachi Sumitomo SCX900-2 hydraulic crawler crane in the UK. Distributor NRC Plant supplied the 90 tonne World Standard machine, which is fitted with multi-plate wet disc main winches rather than ones with conventional clutches. Main boom length can be up to 60 m and the maximum combination is 48 m main boom plus 28 m fly. Hoist ropes are 26 mm diameter and maximum line pull is 20 tonnes. The crane is pictured on rental to Morrison Construction lifting rebar and concrete to build a 5500 m³ under ground storm water tank.
