Italian 'mini' crane maker IMAI has doubled production in 2004 to 30 new machines.

The company, specialising in custom built mini crawler cranes, is also aiming to produce 60 units next year and, according to technical manager Marco Zava, interest in its cranes has rocketed from four enquiries a month to 150 a week.

Zava said the UK is one of IMAI's strongest markets, and a partnership has been established with Fairview Lifting Gear to rent out its cranes. Spain and Italy are the other strongest markets in Europe for IMAI, and Zava said that there have also been sales successes in the Far East and Australia.
