Instrument rental "boom"
10 October 2008
Ashtead Technology Rentals said it has seen a "boom in demand" over the last few months, despite turmoil in economic and business climates. The company, based in Hertfordshire, UK, and operating world wide, rents instruments for environmental monitoring, health and safety checking, materials testing, and remote visual inspection.
General manager James Carlyle said, "Nervousness and uncertainty certainly causes companies to reduce or delay capital expenditure. However, testing, monitoring and inspection work is vital for a number of reasons, including regulatory compliance, quality control, health and safety, and environmental protection. So, even in difficult times, this work still has to take place and undertaken using appropriate technology."
The company also said that current conditions increase the rental benefits of reducing financial risk and freeing capital. It also is experiencing "...an expansion in demand for particular instruments employed in environmental monitoring, occupational hygiene and quality control."
