According to Mauro Marcondes-Rodrigues, IIRSA coordinator at the Inter-American Development Bank, to make Make South American integration a reality the territory has been re-organized into multinational areas called Integration and Development Hubs. These Hubs encompass economic zones, which capture, or have the potential of capturing, investment flows and commerce, and follow the actual and potential trade and economic development of South America.
