International Construction July-August podcast
17 July 2015
The podcast to accompany the July-August edition of International Construction includes a discussion of the news that the presidents of Odebrecht and Andrade Gutierrez, two of the largest contractors in Latin America, have been arrested by Brazilian federal police. Marcelo Odebrecht and Octavio Azevedo Marquez were taken into custody as part of the Operation Lava Jato (Operation Carwash) investigation into corruption at Brazilian state oil company Petrobras.
In business news we look at plans by China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) to spin-off its dredging business, with a listing of tradable shares on the Hong-Kong Stock Exchange. This would be the largest dredging contractor in the world in revenue terms.
Also included in this months’ podcast is a look at iC’s annual survey of the world’s 200 largest construction companies – a league table once again dominated at the top by Chinese contractors.
Meanwhile this month’s regional report looks at the buoyant US construction market.
