• Result Group is to invest US$2 million in its North American sales and support operation. Derek Robson, Result Group's CEO, says the investment -funded by the Royal Bank of Scotland's Stategic Investment Group - will “allow us to capitalise on the success of the company's Java Enterprise Rental Management Package in North America during the last two years”.

•Wynne Systems in the US has agreed a “strategic partnership” with Dispatching Solutions (DSI), a California company specialising in transportation management and tracking systems. Mike Stilwagner, a vice president at Wynne Systems, says rental companies still “throw money away” with inefficient transportation;“This integration will allow Wynne's customers to gain a competitive edge”.

•InspHire has integrated GPS and GSM tracking technology into its rental management software. The Secure Plus module offers remote monitoring of machinery operation and a geo-fencing capability that alerts the owner if a machine moves outside a specified area.

•Recent developments in Advatech Computer Systems' Elan and Enterprise rental software solutions include: mapping for delivery and route planning; scheduling of deliveries/collections; and an extranet module that allows customers to log onto a secure website and view current hires. Advatech is part of the Computer Software Group plc in the UK.

•MCS used the Hire Show in London last January to show its new CRM (client relationship management) module for use with its MCS-rm application.
