JLG releases control panel protection system

JLG Industries, Inc. has released SkyGuard SkyLine, an enhanced control panel protection system as the new standard for North American boom lifts. The new safety innovation is the result of customer feedback stemming from the release of SkyGuard in 2012.

SkyGuard SkyLine features a slim wire rope design that is bolted to the left side the platform with an opposing magnetic connection. If the operator contacts the cable, and the magnet detaches, the system stops all boom lift functions, then momentarily reverses or undoes most functions that were in use when the system was activated. This reverse functionality was pioneered by JLG in 2012, according to the company.

“This enhanced safety feature is another step forward for JLG as we continue to innovate to meet the changing needs of the access industry needs,” said Bill Dovey, JLG product manager for boom lifts. “The customer and end-user feedback on the original SkyGuard system was very positive, and this new feature is a natural evolution of the technology.”

From November 2018 through early 2019, SkyGuard SkyLine will be phased into most boom lift models as a standard feature, however, interested customers will have the option to purchase the original bar style SkyGuard system.
