For the first time, two winners have taken home top honours at this year’s Hire Industry Excellence Awards in Australia.

Recognised for their outstanding achievement and industry excellence in front of 300 industry peers, Access Group and Prime Rentals were both acknowledged as Rental Company of the Year for their overall business operation and expertise.

All the winners of the 2015 Hire Industry Excellence Awards were announced at the culmination of the Hire and Rental Industry Association (HRIA) National Convention in Adelaide.

HRIA CEO Phil Newby said: “Nominees are assessed by the judges across almost 50 criteria ranging from their presentation, to systems and procedures, health and safety compliance, community involvement and customer testimonials.

“Finalists all say they increased their business and saw increased respect from their existing customer base for their achievement.

“Just by completing a presentation, you have the opportunity to investigate and analyse your company’s Key Performance Indicators,” Mr Newby added.

“Entering the awards is comparative a comparison between businesses and provides an excellent system of feedback.”

This year Excellence Awards winners included:

Rental Company of the Year – Access Group Australia and Prime Rentals

Rental Company of the Year (under A$5m or €3.6 million ) – Uphire

Rental Company of the Year - Events Division – Excel Events

Supplier of the Year – Hiretech

Supplier of the Year – Access Division – Genie Industries

Best New Product – Baytex Earth Anchors

Best Exhibition Stand – Indoor – Wacker Neuson

Best Exhibition Stand – Outdoor – Genie Industries,

The accompanying Hire15 exhibition attracted 19 entries in the Best New Product award, with new exhibitors representing 20% of the overall total present.

New equipment for the rental market, included a zero emission scissor lift from Genie, ”the world’s first true four wheel electric drive hybrid boom” from JLG and a skid steer from Vermeer

“If it can be hired, then you could find it at Hire15,” said HRIA National Operations Director, James Oxenham.

Europe will honour its own Rental Company of the Year at the European Rental Awards next month.

The event takes place on 3 June alongside the European Rental Convention in Rome.
